Sunday 21 Jul: Fly with your airline choice from Cape Town or Johannesburg to Nice.
Monday 22 Jul – Wednesday 24 Jul Nice: For the next two nights we will stay in an Ibis Budget Hotel very close to the beach. You will be free to plan your days any way you prefer. During your stay in Nice you will have very few limitations.
Our only fixed outing is a visit to Monaco. Here you will see the world-famous formula 1 race track and for one night, experience something of the life of the world’s richest people.
The beaches of Nice are the playground of the world’s rich and famous. You can relax on the beach or explore the tourist attractions of this very old city on your own. We will also give you a booklet with lots of information about what you can do. Meals are not included!
Wednesday 24 Jul Digne: We travel on the famous one of the most picturesque routes of Europe. This route was made famous by Napoleon Bonaparte after he travelled from Elba back to Paris in 1815. It runs through the beautiful French Alps.
On our way to our first stop Digne, we will visit a perfume factory in the largest perfume producing town in the word Grasse.
Digne is an administrative center along the route Napoleon. It also hosts a Spa-resort and is the lavender capital of France.
The historic center, dominated by Saint-Jérôme cathedral, features picturesque pedestrian streets and the famous Saint-Charles hill.
It is also home to the must-see Gassendi museum. The museum is devoted to local history, art and science. The museum contains art as well as a variety of other interesting collections.
Also worth visiting is the Cordeliers botanical garden in the grounds of the old Cordeliers convent. This medieval garden, where herbs, heritage vegetables and fruit trees grow, is a lovely place for a stroll.
Specialising in the treatment of respiratory and rheumatic problems, the Thermes de Digne-les-Bains thermal baths north of the town offer spa cures as well as fitness breaks and well-being treatments. Definitely one for relaxation fans! Tonight we will get together for a meal and enjoy the French hospitality. We will have to brush-up on our French since there is very little English spoken in his area. Breakfast and Dinner Included
Thursday 25 Jul Corps: The Medieval village Corps is located on the Route Napoleon, in the heart of the Dauphiné province. Corps is a recommended stop on the route. You can explore its old streets and tasting dishes. The locals are friendly and we might even be able to pop into the local Renault repair shop, where the owner has his own collection of antique vehicles.
It can be very hot in July and it is wonderful to relax with an ice-cold Gin and Tonic on the Veranda. This town with its ancient gardens was a famous overnight stop for the emperor. We will have some nice restaurants to choose from for dinner. After dinner you can have a romantic walk to through the town. Breakfast and Dinner Included.
Thursday 25 Jul – Sunday 28 Jul: We leave Corps early and Travel to Paris. Tonight we will have dinner at camp and after that we will do a night tour of the city of lights.
Et aujourd’hui, Bonjour paris! Today we will do a walking tour of Paris. You will have enough free time, but you have to be prepared for a busy day. Entry to Notre Dame and the Louvre are included in the tour.
On our second night in the romantic city, we will have a classy picnic dinner under the Eiffel Tower. This is usually one of the highlights of the tour. There are huge lawns and it is a nice and relaxed evening. Unfortunately, we have no control over the weather and the long queues at the tower might demotivate you. Most of the time there is enough time to see the inside of the tower and the beautiful city of Paris from the top of the tower.
On the third day you will have the opportunity to visit Versailles or travel through Paris at your own leisure. Breakfast and Dinner Included.
Sunday 28 Jul – Tuesday 30 Jul Amsterdam: The drive from Paris to Amsterdam can take anything between 6 and 8 hours depending on the traffic. Tonight we will do a city tour of Amsterdam. You will also have the option to pre-book the Anne Frank museum.
On our second day in Amsterdam we will visit the famous Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Cheese and Clog Factory and Vollendam.Breakfast and Dinner Included.
Tuesday 30 Jul: You fly back from Amsterdam to Cape town or Johannesburg, after experiencing the journey of a lifetime.
