Wednesday 10 Jul: Fly from Cape Town or Johannesburg to Rome with a flight of your choice and for the tour and kuier of your life.
Thursday 11 Jul -Sunday 14 Jul Rome: We will visit Rome for three nights.
Your tour leader will take you on a city tour of the Italian Capital on the first night. You will see Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Victor Immanuel, The Roman Forum, The Colosseum and Vatican city. This tour is aimed at a basic orientation and does not include entrance to all the landmarks.
Before the tour we will relax and kuier around the fire and swimming pool. The flight from South Africa to Rome is long and you will need time to refresh yourselves.
On day two and three you will be able to plan your own itinerary and add your own activities. You tour leader will help you and we will pre-book tours for you to help you skip some lines.
We will stay in chalets in a campsite. Four people share a house with two rooms. Breakfast and Dinner are included.
Sunday 14 Jul – Tuesday 16 July: : We drive via Pompeii to Sorrento. You can visit famous archeological site of Pompeii. The city was destroyed by a volcano in 79AD. If you choose to do a guided tour you can add that to your entry.
On the Monday we will visit the Isle of Capri. You can choose to either spend the day in the small streets of Sorrento or to take the ferry to Capri. Once you get to Capri you can charter your own boat around the Island or you can spend the day on land exploring this very special Island.Breakfast and Dinner Included.
Tuesday 16 Jul – Wednesday 17 Jul Fabro: Fabro is a medieval village, surrounded by a castle that was redesigned in the 1600s by Antonio da Sangallo.
The village guarded the pass between the Val di Chiana and the Paglia Valley and still stands proudly on the town's summit.
Napoleon's troops came through and destroyed all the civic and ecclesiastical archives, and the town underwent damage during WWII.
There is a pretty town hall and a church dedicated to Saint Martin. We will stay here for one night on our way to Venice.
This is truly “off the beaten track” and you will most likely be the only tourist in the two tonight. We will have a special meal tonight and we might even meet some of the locals. Breakfast and dinner included.
Wednesday 17 Jul – Friday 19 Jul Venice:We drive from Fablo to Venice. Venice consist of more than seven hundred islands. We stay on the outskirts an we need to take a vaporetto into the city, to explore the venetian delights.
The next day we will do a walking tour of Venice. The rise and decline of this very special city will be discussed. The markets of Rialto and the reason for their existence will be discussed. St Markus Square, St Markus Cathedral and the Dukes Palace will certainly be visited. Marco Polo and his journeys might provide answers to some of your questions. Breakfast and dinner included.
Friday 19 Jul – Sunday 21 Jul Cinque Terre: Cinque Terre is a string of centuries-old seaside villages on the rugged Italian Riviera coastline. In each of the 5 towns, colorful houses and vineyards cling to steep terraces, harbors are filled with fishing boats and trattorias turn out seafood specialties along with the Liguria region’s famous sauce, pesto. The Sentiero Azzurro cliffside hiking trail links the villages and offers sweeping sea vistas. We will enjoy these beautiful surrounds while sipping Italian wine and enjoying great Italian food, or maybe a South African braai. Breakfast and dinner included
Sunday 21 Jul – Tuesday 23 Jul: We drive through Italy along the Mediterranean coast until we reach the city of Nice next to the French Riviera. On our way we will drive through about 200 tunnels and across just as many bridges. This is probably one of the most exquisite routes you will travel during your lifetime.
For the next two nights we will stay in an Ibis Budget Hotel very close to the beach. You will be free to plan your days any way you prefer. During your stay in Nice you will have very few limitations. Our only fixed outing is a visit to Monaco. Here you will see the world-famous formula 1 race track and for one night, experience something of the life of the world’s richest people. The beaches of Nice are the playground of the world’s rich and famous. You can relax on the beach or explore the tourist attractions of this very old city on your own. We will also give you a booklet with lots of information about what you can do.
Nice offers the ideal opportunity to rest after all the walking in the bigger cities. Meals are not included!
Tuesday 23 Jul: You can either choose to continue with the French and Dutch tour or you can fly back to South Africa from Nice.
