White Clay Guest House is situated 1.5km south of Coffee Bay on the new “Hole in the Wall” road, nestled between the cliffs and only 100m from our own private beach\bay. All accommodation is en-suite and sea facing, with a magnificent view overlooking the warm Indian ocean.
Enjoy deliciously prepared meals on our open deck while watching dolphins and whales frolicking in the bay.
The name White Clay is derived from the cultural Xhosa tradition where young men undergo a circumcision ritual and are known as “abakweta”. These initiates spend a month long period smeared with white clay. This clay is collected from the valley adjoining our establishment.
Facilities include: Dinner, bed & breakfast, fully equipped self-catering ( self contained ) units accommodating couples to larger groups, as well as safe camping facilities.
Our restaurant is fully licensed, specializing in seafood, and we also have a curio shop.
Attractions include great rock, surf & river fishing, and deep sea boat charter available. Hiking trails along the magnificent “Hole in the Wall” (south) and Mdumbi beach (north).
The area also offers opportunities fro cycling, horse riding, quad biking and our annual events, being the 21km cross country challenge held at the end of August.
