During the South African spring from August to September, the Namaqualand turns into a spectacle of colour when the wildflowers bloom. What better place than the Kamieskroon Hotel in Kamieskroon to experience this unforgettable phenomenon from?

The Kamieskroon Hotel is famous for the photographic workshops that are hosted annually to coincide with the Namaqualand flower season. They are also famous for their delicious farm-style meals – three-course dinners and full English breakfasts are the order of the day. Light meals are served in the hotel’s coffee shop.

The Kamieskroon Hotel is within easy reach of the Namaqua National Park and Skilpad Nature Reserve, both of which are venues where you can see and experience South Africa’s wildflower season at its most spectacular.

The Kamieskroon Hotel accommodates guests in 24 comfortable en suite rooms. You can watch satellite TV in the lounge, while a log fire roars away the winter cold (it can be quite cold in the winter season). During summer you will be very appreciative of the swimming pool at the Kammieskroon Hotel. Other facilities include an internet service, liquor store as well as telephones, and if you need any “flower souvenirs” or information on where to view the best flowers in the Namaqualand, the Hotel’s office staff will oblige.

The Kamieskroon Hotel also five self-catering apartments, as well as a caravan park with clean ablution facilities and power points.

Kamieskroon in the Namaqualand owes its name to the rock formation towering some 330 m into the clear sky. This formation resembles a crown or a corkscrew and is called Kardoukop.

Kamieskroon Hotel dates from 1925 and was built by Joe Josephson and Max Schapera. These two gentlemen also incorporated the Jewish date 5586 into the Star of David at the entrance. Since that time the Kamieskroon Hotel has been regularly renovated so that it is still a pleasant, friendly and comfortable country hotel in the Namaqualand, South Africa.

The hotel has 24 comfortable en-suite rooms, satellite TV in the lounge and a log fire in winter. There is also a swimming pool for the hotel guests for the warmer summer months.

The Kamieskroon Hotel is noted for its tasty and nutritious meals. Full English breakfast and four course dinners are served in the dining room. Light meals are served on the hotel stoep or the nearby hotel shop.

There is a bottle store, public telephone and internet service for guests. The hotel office has post cards, books, souvenirs and camera film for sale and provides friendly guidance about the area, especially during the flower season (August and September).
