Zimbabwe is a country rich in diversity and history. At least seven different states have occupied the territory since 1000 AD. Evidence suggests that building commenced of the Great Zimbabwe Ruins in the 12 th century.  The new state was born in 1980 with Rev Canaan Banana as first president and Robert Mugabe as Prime Mister.  Since 1987 Mr Mugabe is President and since 2008 Mr. Morgan Tsvangirai is the Prime Minister.

Zimbabwe boasts a temperate climate, with year-round sunshine.  Summers can be very hot, but winters are never cold, just comfortably cool. Light casual clothing is the rule, although something warm may be necessary for the evening.  Some upmarket hotels in the cities might require smart-casual dress and even a tie for evening meals.

The main tourist areas of Zimbabwe are:
Victoria Falls which is generally regarded as one of the seven wonders of the world.  The water fall is something spectacular but the town is also the main adventure centre of Zimbabwe.  You can do game activities such as elephant back safari, night drives and numerous other activities such as bungy jumping and white water rafting.  Hotels and lodges in and around Victoria Falls are plenty and of good quality.  For those with upmarket tastes, the Victoria Falls Hotel or Elephant Hills will be a good choice.  The Kingdom Hotel and Ilala Lodge offers excellent value for money while the Victoria Falls Rest Camp offers self-catering accommodation

Lake Kariba was at its completion in 1963 the world’s largest man made lake.  The southern shores of this lake is covered by the Matusadona National Park where famous lodges such as Spurwing Island and Fothergill Island offer all sorts of game and fishing related activities.  In Kariba town the Caribbea Bay is known as the Riveira of Zimbabwe and clearly the play ground of the rich and famous.

Manapools in the North East and Hwange National Parks in the North West are both famous big game playground.  The big five is common in this really wild areas and lodges which offer typical Zimbabwean hospitality are plentiful.
