The Location

The Namib Desert Lodge near Sesriem in Namibia is situated at the foot of a spectacular red fossilised dune. These dunes are approximately 20 million years old, and they contain fossils of the ancestor of the modern-day ostrich. The nearby Sossusvlei is a clay pan and contains scattered dunes – some as high as 200 m! The clay contains moisture provided by flooding of the Tsauchab River and this enables camelthorn trees to grow. So if you stay at the Namib Desert Lodge near Sesriem, you will experience many of the things that make Namibia special.

At the Namib Desert Lodge in Namibia, guests are accommodated in 76 rooms (of which 5 are family rooms and 2 are single rooms). All rooms are an suite, and are equipped with mosquito nets and ceiling fans.

The Namib Desert Lodge has two sparkling swimming pools to beat the heat of the Namib Desert. Dinner and breakfasts are both buffet meals, but you can order light lunches if the hunger pangs become too much.

Apart from a sundowner trip into the nearby dunes, the Namib Desert Lodge doesn’t offer any other activities. However, in the nearby Sossusvlei, guests of the Namib Desert Lodge can find activities such as hot-air ballooning, hiking into the dunes with an expert, as well as light aircraft trips to view the spectacular dunes from the air.
